Almost every rider knows their hat size. Or do they? Have they worn the same hat for several years, stretching it to a larger size with time and growth? Maybe they're wearing a second-hand hat that someone else had stretched at the time of purchase. Different manufacturers use differing sizing systems. Any and all of these are good reasons to measure your head. Use a flexible cloth tape, measuring where the sweatband will be.
